Recognized for mature songwriting and heartfelt lyrics, The Run* has continued to expand its reach from the small towns of central Minnesota. After playing into a tie for first place in the state's most prestigious Battle of the Bands hosted by Fox 9, they continue to creep toward big city aspirations. The Run* was originally formed a solo project by singer/songwriter Michael Shynes (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar/ Piano), but due to a desire to expand, Adam Hrtanek (Bass), Rick Waltman (Guitar, Backing Vox), and Frank Ayers (Drums) were added. They have contributed their unique talents in both the songwriting and live performance aspects of the band. The Run* has maintained a unified intimacy in their lyrical content while expanding the dynamic nature of their sound, and the result is original songs that are easy to relate to and have staying power. Songs like "Letting You Down", "Feel it Slow", and "Time Spent Driving" connect with audiences on the perils of difficult times, but in turn finding an enduring hope. A blend of acoustic and alternative rock, The Run* blends a feel of late 80s and early 90s music with the pop sensibility of today. The result is a live show filled with passion and energy that connects with listeners on all levels, and a band that is always looking to make the next leap.
